I met Sandra years ago, through my work with Arts4Choice and her work with Canadians for Choice. We were activist-ing and standing up for the ladies. Back then, she just had Elisa, who was teeny and wonderful (and now she is all grown up and playing violin!). And now, there’s Sandra, Elisa, Santiago and Vu. And all of the wonderful people around them from the various facets of their lives.

So glad that we reconnected on Facebook and that I got to be there to share their day. It was such beautiful, authentic, love. But a few catchy words can’t describe a wedding day and by extension, a marriage, so hopefully the photos will capture a little more.

More on love and manifestos later.

Until then, these two.

I have been having a little fun with B&W lately and had the chance to play paparazzi with these two!

It was a fabulous session. I have to say, I love engagement shoots. So much less intense than weddings, all the time in the world to wander around, have fun and get creative. I creeped on them through cafe windows and while they shopped at the St Lawrence market.

Check out this beautiful couple.

A month or two ago, I began my on-call for my first birth.

I left my phone on each night, waiting for the text or the call to say things were moving along.

Well, I received the call, jumped into a taxi around midnight and headed to the Birth Centre.

As far as my experience of the birth, it was fast and beautiful. And a healthy new baby girl was born. I’ve had to resist sharing for a while but I am excited to share these two, beautiful moments. Sweet, sweet moments just minutes after a new human being came into the world.

ps. If you are actually looking for a birth photographer, get in touch. I take a very limited number of births but let’s see what we can come up with!

I was in kind of a foul mood the day we shot these.

I was feeling like I had too much going on and nothing going on. I was feeling like I shouldn’t bother, what would come of it?

I thought I should probably reschedule for another day.

But Diane already had the costumes, she would be at the studio, and we were thinking of it just as a test session.

And so I went. And shot. And let myself go.

And then I posted one of my favourites the other day as “part of a series I’m working on“. Because…that’s what it is now, a series that I am working on.

Funny how a grumpy mood and pushing through can bring you to that, to a new place, to a new project, to something that moves you and excites you.
